A sure sign that your baby is growing up is that very first rice cereal meal. He’s been acting like he’s ready for about a week now, so we tried it out for breakfast this morning. Needless to say, it was a VERY messy learning experience. At first, Malachi was not a fan. He grimaced and wouldn’t open his mouth. But after a couple tries he became bird boy. If I got the spoon close to his mouth, he literally attacked the spoon trying to get to it. Much like a baby bird thrusts its head up quickly in order to score the last worm. Hal and I were cracking up. I hope we’ll be able to get some video of it, because it’s one of those memories I don’t want to forget.
I cannot believe my baby is old enough to start trying some “solids”. I think his first rice cereal experience was hit and miss. We’ll try again tomorrow….baby steps…..
I’ll be working on steaming and pureeing some fruits and veggies soon. While I realize it’s more work, I am really excited to start making baby food for Chi. I like that I will know exactly what he’s eating, and there’s a big part of me that is glad to be able to provide for him again. I’ve missed that since we had to switch him to formula.
Time seriously needs to start slowing down!!!
